Microsoft Office Live is an Internet-based software service designed for small businesses with less than ten employees launched on February 15, 2006, and is part of Microsoft's Windows Live initiative. The software was released on November 16, 2006 and is at present only available to residents of the United States. In late 2006, the service extended to a few other languages and countries.
The service has several features. First, it gives users own domain name, web site, and e-mail accounts. Second, it gives users access to various management software, including project, customer, and document management applications. lastly, it offers clients a password-protected "shared site" to organize information.
There are three levels to the service: Office Live Basics, Office Live Essentials and Office Live Premium. All three services are free during the beta. In The U.S., Office Live Basics remains free, while Office Live Essentials costs $19.95 USD per month and Office Live Premium costs $39.95 USD per month.
